Bride and Dad Wow Wedding Guests With A Choreographed Father-Daughter Dance

A Utah bride and her father ditched the traditional father-daughter dance and went into full-on performance mode with a surprise choreographed routine for their 400 guests.

With throwback songs like N-Sync’s “Bye, Bye, Bye” and MC Hammer’s “Can’t Touch This,” the duo wowed the crowd with a routine that they’d only practiced for a week before the October wedding.

Mikayla Ellison Phillips, 25, said the four-minute dance is something her dad, Nathan Ellison, had always wanted to do.

“It was totally my dad’s idea; we talked about doing it for years. It was his dream,” Mikayla told InsideEdition.com. “Since I’m the oldest, and the only girl, this was his only chance so I agreed to it.”

Although Mikayla is professional dancer and met her husband at Brigham Young University as dance partners, her dad held his own during their routine.

“We sat down a week before the actual wedding and came up with ideas. Every night we would practice the dance until we got it down,” Mikayla said. “He’s not much of a dancer… I’ve danced practically my whole life so he practiced a lot more than I did.”

The two choreographed the dance and picked the music for it together.

“I mainly wanted to do something easy and fun with him to share the special moment,” she said. “Everyone was completely shocked but they loved it!”

The video, which was posted to YouTube, has more than one million views.
